Coronavirus & the BOS Spring Convention
I’m very sorry to inform you that the BOS Council has decided to cancel the BOS Spring Convention in Hull 4-5 April 2020. The coronavirus outbreak represents a serious threat to public health, and naturally the wellbeing of all delegates and guests is one of our highest priorities. The BOS Council have been monitoring the situation very closely over recent weeks, including official advice regarding public health and travel within the U.K. and internationally, and have reluctantly come to the decision that we cannot proceed with the convention. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience – I’m sure you will appreciate this is a largely unprecedented situation, and this decision has not been taken lightly and without significant thought and discussion.
Penny will be in touch with everyone who has booked in to come to the convention to arrange refunds if you have booked through the BOS. We have also set up an online form for you to confirm your details and obtain your refund. If you do not want a refund and/or wish to go ahead with your booking, please let Penny know by 18th March at latest. Please note there will be no formal BOS activities for anyone wishing to go ahead with their booking. Please don’t contact the hotel direct if you have booked accommodation through the BOS.
If you have booked travel or accommodation privately, we would ask that you check your cancellation terms and conditions and/or insurance and try to get a refund this way in the first instance. If you are going to be out of pocket due to this cancellation e.g. you cannot get a refund, we have a contingency budget for such exceptional events. Again, please use our online form for you to confirm your details and obtain your refund. Alternatively, please contact us (Penny on email@example.com or myself Tony O’Hare on firstname.lastname@example.org) with details, amounts & copies of receipts or other confirmation of costs incurred. We aim to ensure that none of our attendees suffer a financial loss due to wanting to come to our convention.
Thank you in advance for your understanding in these difficult circumstances.
Tony O’Hare, BOS Chair
